We have a summer place on an area lake and like to stop here for a nice meal and drinks. We came up here last night (9/29/17) to close down for the season, but wanted to top it off by stopping in here first, then off to the lake for the last boat ride and sunset of the year. Sadly, we had very unpleasant experience. There was a wedding party as most times we are there and wasn't overly busy. We ended up spending 1 hour 50 minutes just to have a "quick" pizza! After being lied to that she was going to get it and will be right back, 25 minutes later she said they were just putting it in the oven. We never got our glass of water, my tap beer came in a bottle, wasn't offered sprinkle on toppings and on and on. I had to hunt down another server to get a to go box and our bill. Unfortunately we missed our final boat ride and sunset. The table behind us sent their meal back (never do that) to the kitchen and got it back even worse.The lady owner (looked like she had her share to drink) showed up to discuss their issue and trimmed their bill a bit. We'll come back, but will make sure Chris is our server from now on.
Sorry to say the salmon was not good. Peculiar tasting, old perhaps. Baby red potatoes where not cooked all the way and vegetables where partly cold. Not seasoned properly. None of the food on my plate was hot. All cooled off. Didn't complain as I didn't want to make my friends uncomfortable knowing the food they said was good wasn't at all. Very disappointed. The atmosphere was nice. Service slow. Husband liked all his grilled shrimp.
I've been here a couple times now and have been very happy with both the food and the service. Awesome view is a bonus. This is the best fine dining place I know of in the Alex area.
We have never had good service or even decent food there, but this last experience takes the cake. We went with a group of 12, big family dinner. And the waitress we had put the wrong bills in with the credit cards so when my brother and I saw the bills we realized that we had each others bills and exchanged the black credit card folders. Well I got a call from my brother the next day saying he had my card and to look if I had his. Sure enough I had his card. When I called Lakeside I talked to the owner and never before was I so insulted. "I'm sorry that happened, but it does happen easily." "Well that's not our fault that you went home with the wrong cards, it doesn't reflect on us at all." I got a attitude of it's not my problem. I will never go back to that place again. And I advise others not to as well, of course if you are looking for bad service, mediocre food and a snotty attitude be my guest.
On the shore of Lake Minnewaska. Large dining room offering a daily special. Great variety of items on the menu and all I have had were tasty. You can also dine on the lakeside patio or in the full-service bar area. Friendly staff. There is also an attached ballroom beautifully decorated for weddings or special events.
